Join this dynamic dialogue with Dr. Dexter Gabriel, Professor of History and Africana Studies at UConn, facilitates a discussion on how Juneteenth is commemorated and celebrated today in varied geographical American communities, as well as how it’s meaning has changed over time. This dialogue will include both a history of the larger topic of celebrating and/or commemorating emancipation(s), which has been part of Black communities in North America for well over a hundred years.
