Meet at the parking lot at 871 Hillstown Road, Manchester. Free. We’ll walk in the western part of our 177.5-acre Bush Hill property, to view the recently purchased Lombardo acreage (102 acres added to Bush Hill in 2021), including Gretz Pond, meadows, and woodlands. We’ll hike for about 2.5 miles. Somewhat bumpy and hilly, so please wear sturdy sneakers or hiking boots, and bring water. No dogs, please. Extreme weather cancels. The purchase of the 102-acre Lombardo property was made possible by grants from the State of Connecticut, Towns of Manchester and Glastonbury, CATIC Foundation, Fields Pond Foundation, Garmany Fund at Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, Hartford Audubon Society, Meshomasic Hiking Club, Summer Hill Foundation, and many donations from individuals. Volunteers have been working to create parking areas, trails, and boardwalks over wet spots as needed.
